Just the other day, three of hip-hop’s leading ladies decided to team up with Missy Elliott for the remix of her January release “I’m Better.” While the Lamb-assisted track was already a hit that began to put Missy back on the map, verses from Eve, Lil Kim and Trina set the track to new heights.
While listening to the hard-hitting cut, Kim delivers her usual rough lyrics mixed in with her use of sex appeal, though this time she tries her hand at Auto-Tune, which isn’t as bad as it may seem. Trina matches this level of sex appeal with lines like “I’m better, better than them/ And I get wetter than them/ F— where you’ve been/ Get too much cheddar for him/ I set the bar and them b—hes only setting trends,” that really seemed to stir fans up. Eve essentially brings it all together with slightly calmer bars like “I’m so anti/ Winning in life by a landslide/ I know you see me, you see me/ Your chick wanna be me, but she could never be me.”
With the way the female rap game has been scattered these last few months, it’s safe to say that each of these women are here to take it all this year, letting everyone know that the queens are ready to reclaim their thrones.
